Things I Intend to Do in New York, New York
Look, my brand (and by that, I mean my life) is very midwestern small town. But every once in a while, I like to go to a big city and kick up my heels. No, I will not be wearing heels.
I'll be in New York City for the next few days. Here is a partial and highly aspirational list of plans:
1. Not editing book one. Procrastination doesn't just happen at home. It travels. It's cosmopolitan like that.
2. Eating food that costs more than my first car payment. I will not complain about this. I will complain about this.
3. Seeing "Oh, Mary!" on Broadway. I've been told I'll love it. I've also been told I need to "prepare myself," which is either very exciting or very concerning.
4. Walking the literary trail in Central Park. Because I am a writer working on a novel, and sometimes you need to go stand where other writers stood and hope it rubs off.
5. Napping. Still me. Just a different zip code.
6. Spending time with a friend who is a hoot and a half. You know the kind — the friend who makes you laugh so hard in public that strangers start to worry. We will see how this plays in the Big Apple.
7. Missing HRFP. He's my favorite, and he knows it, and that's probably why he's fine staying home.
If I come back with a new favorite coffee order and opinions about subway etiquette, you'll know New York got to me. If I come back talking about my book edits, assume I was replaced by a pod person.
